I first heard the call to the priesthood when I was in the 6th grade. Msgr. Donovan, at Holy Cross Church, was giving a homily on vocations, and I felt in my heart that he was speaking directly to me. When I graduated High School, I was very interested in science especially Biology. I enrolled at North Central College and earned a double major. I went to work for a small pharmaceutical company in Skokie called Searle, and wound up working there for over eleven years. In 1996, Searle sent us to Seven Habits Training. The first habit is to be proactive. The instructor explained that this habit could be rephrased as, 'Are you doing with your life, what you are supposed to be doing with your life?' When he said this, I felt the same feeling in my heart that I felt when I was listening to Msgr. Donovan back in the 6th grade. I knew then that I needed to explore my vocation to the Priesthood. After earning my Masters degree, I started investigating whether I was being called to be a Diocesan priest or join a Religious Order. After going on retreats, reading religious books like the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and many hours of prayer; I decided to become a seminarian of the Rockford Diocese.
