Rev. Josue Vargas

Ordained to the priesthood May 19, 2007
Born: 1–25–1970
Home Parish: St. Joseph, Elgin, IL
My Name is Josue and I come from Guadalajara Mexico. I come from very strong Catholic faith and I have one brother and two sisters. I remember when I was a child every Sunday I went to Mass with all of my family. My Mom and Dad walked behind us all the time with my brother and sisters in front of them. Every Sunday I enjoyed the Mass, especially when the priest consecrated the bread and wine to body and blood of Christ. Those moments I never forget because they changed my life and my mind was set to become a priest.
Time passed and when I was ten years old my mom passed away. I never thought about priesthood; I thought God was not really good because He took my mom. In 1994 I made a Spiritual retreat, and during this retreat God changed my life and my vision of Him. After that my "ganas" to become a priest came again. In 1998 I applied to Rockford Diocese while Father Martin Heinz was Vocation Director. I explained to him my interest in the priesthood and he gave me the opportunity to come here. This is my fourth year and I continue to look forward to a life in the priesthood.
Sinseramente, Josue your brother in Christ.
